I’m the Lead Client Engagement Specialist. Right from the first few days at BOAZ, I felt like I was part of the family. I felt, within the first week, that I experienced a moment of heartfelt connection with each team member. I take my job seriously, and I love being able to help clients access their medicine, and solve their problems. If I feel useful, I’ve had a good day!
I have seen people’s quality of life improve after using cannabis – even for people who were initially anti-cannabis. We have an opportunity right now to grow a brand new industry from seed! We can learn from different players, see what’s working and what’s not, and make adjustments based on that feedback system. It’s all so fascinating! I think that, in order to move beyond the stigmas, people’s behaviours don’t necessarily need to change, but rather we must change our collective thinking about cannabis. People who were in the “cannabis closet” should finally feel safe to talk about it openly, and by doing so, they educate the general public and continue to shift perceptions.
I have a wide curiosity for absolutely everything, but ethnobotany, in particular, has always been something in which I am very involved. My grandfather helped me plant my first garden when I was about four or five years old, and since then I’ve undertaken courses and field work in natural medicine, ethnobotany and plant biology. Plants are so smart, and there is so much of their wisdom we’ve yet to discover!
EMPATHY – I seek to understand where people are coming from; to understand their situation and adapt myself to be as helpful as I can, but it’s a two-sided super power! Sometimes, this quality is advantageous and sometimes, it’s really challenging – but when I do find the balance, I feel great joy, and know that this is when I can be most effective.
